Cedar

Cedar is a rural area approximately 10 km south of downtown Nanaimo. Much of Cedar is surrounded by waterfront allowing for some outstanding waterfront homesites. Duke Point Ferry terminal is also located in Cedar so the access to the lower mainland is excellent. There is a mix or rural acreages and some subdivisions on larger lots. Cedar-by-the Sea is the quaint village centre of Cedar providing some shopping and dining.

There are great parks available such as Hemmer Provincial Park, and Jack Point & Biggs Park (by Duke Point Ferry terminal) and also Cable Bay Trail that will lead you to Joan Point Park which has an outstanding view of Dodd Narrows where tidal flows between Vancouver Island and Mudge Islands can reach speed of 10 knots.

A visit to Cedar should always include a stop at the English style Crow and Gate pub. This is a popular stop for tourists, bicyclists and residents alike. In the summer the Cedar Farmers market is set up at the entrance to the pub and it is well frequented for the variety of goods available.
